The nip consists of one temperature controlled hard roll and one gray cast iron roll with covering elastic material . A crown value for compensating deflection deformation is obtained by grinding , The surface of soft roll deforms under pressure, which makes the pressing area contact, and makes the pressure per unit area lower. The surface of paper sheet is treated mildly, so the paper sheet is uniformly trimmed and the loss of loose thickness is less.For most kinds of paper, finishing effect is better than hard calendering.
